Ways you can help

Thank you for taking an interest in our campaign. There are lots of ways your donations help us to ensure that young people in care and care leavers have the same life chances as their peers.

One of many ways that your donations help:

Comfort Cases (£35)

How would you feel if you had to carry your life’s belongings in a bin bag? This is the reality for many children and young people when they are taken into care or when they are re-homed.

The Comfort Cases project helps us to change that, by providing them with their own case containing a pair of pyjamas, a blanket, a hygiene kit, a book, a soft toy and a stationary pack. A simple act which helps them feel more valued.

Care Leavers Pack (£35)

Those of you with children who have left home understand how much support they need. Sadly, many are left to cope without a family support system. The Care Leavers Pack is designed to give a helping hand.

Are you a Business Leader?

We are creating a project where Businesses offer care leavers the opportunity to engage in Work Experience, Apprenticeships, and employment in a supportive and caring working environment.

These youngsters require more support than their peers, and so your investment in them will make a life-long positive difference, showing them that someone cares and that they matter.

We are creating a directory of those businesses who want to create a positive living legacy within their community by recognising and nurturing the potential of these young people.

You can express your interest in the project by completing the form below.

The shocking reality

As at the end of 2023:

• 105,000 children are currently in care across the UK, with the situation worsening as 33% of local councils are registering an increase in numbers.

• 25% of homeless people have been in care, with a third of care leavers becoming homeless in the first two years.

• 25% of U21s currently in prison have spent some time in the care system, as they are often groomed victims of organized crime.

• 1 in 100 children living in care are abused every year in Britain.

• 38% of all care leavers are identified as having mental health issues by 14 years old.

Fatima’s UK Campaign is directly involved in highlighting the reality of the experience of young people in care and of care leavers. For those who experience the care system, these stark statistics demonstrate the much reduced health, education, work and general life chances and a far higher incidence of mental illness, suicide, homelessness and poverty in comparison to their peers.

This situation has been perpetuated for decades. To readdress these issues, a very different approach is required.

In April 2025, an inaugural Summit is being organised to bring together cross party politicians, decision makers, and representatives from all agencies and charities involved in the care system.

Please help us drive the agenda forward and create a system which demonstrates to every child and young person that they matter and help us help them to flourish.

Fundraising

Fatima is a living testimony that when someone shows a young person in care that they care in a really practical way that young people will thrive.

Please help us ensure that every child who goes through the care system knows that they matter and that despite their challenging start in life they have people like you who really care.

Please consider donating to this special cause.

As part of our fundraising journey, Fatima has been completing various challenges with her family, friends, and supporters to raise money for the Campaign.

These challenges include marathons, mountain climbs, and more!
